Women’s March Crossbody Bag

£28.00

This crossbody bag is based on a 1911 vintage design by Margaret Morris, intended to illustrate the song sheet of “The March of the Women,” a song dedicated to suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst. It became the music for the women’s suffrage movement throughout the United Kingdom and elsewhere. Activists sang it at rallies and in prison too: the composer, Ethel Smyth, reputably conducted the anthem with her toothbrush from a window of Holloway Prison. In some ways, you could call it the feminist pop anthem of its time.

Bagmade with half Panama cotton (heavy weight, 309 gsm, textured finish). Design front and back and brass zip. Approx. size: 33 x 33cm x 11cm gusset. Will fit A4 folders or books.
Printed fabric strap (width 2.5cm) adjustable length up to 49 cm with antique brass buckle. Interior pocket to fit large mobile phone or purse. Lining in plain 100% cotton, half Panama. Sponge clean with warm water.
